Search Engine Optimization - Magnifying GlassWhen I became a personal finance blogger, I didn’t even know what SEO was. I was just writing articles and hoping that people would read my content. As I started writing more consistently as well as writing more detailed posts, I began to receive more organic traffic from search engines like Bing, Yahoo, and even Google.

The journey to learn SEO begins

I put two and two together and realized that there was a reason these search engines were sending traffic my way. The search engines were a big fan of unique, detailed, and consistent content. I learned that there is a term for the process of improving how a website ranks in the search results and it is called search engine optimization. This is where you optimize your content in such a way that is “search engine friendly” by making sure that you use things like meta data, heading tags, URL structure properly.

A SEO company is born

I decided to create the Phoenix SEO company in July of 2013 as a way to attract new clients that I could help get on the first page of Google. I was able to rank several terms on the first page including terms like “Sod” and “Medical Device Contract Manufacturing“. This gave me the ability to get contracts with more companies where I am able to help increase their exposure on the web as well.

First speaking gig was on SEO

I had the privilege of speaking at FinCon 2013, a financial blogging conference in St. Louis Missouri, on SEO 101. The room was filled with other financial blogger who were all eager to improve their sites to get more organic traffic. It went extremely well and I felt blessed to even of had the opportunity.

What lies ahead

I am continuing to grow my SEO business as it is something that I really enjoy doing. But have no fear, I will still continue helping people with their finances as much as I can 🙂
